Appearances are all that matters
People very rarely see beyond the surface.The winners seem to be the one who can dish out that perfect exterior.Sweet,charming,polite,ones with that saccharine tongue.This is no place for fools who wear their hearts on their sleeves.No place for people whose inner selves are hidden by that exterior that they choose as a shield.Its all about how the cover of the book is than what lies within.
And it takes less than 10 min to figure out if that fancy exterior is a facade for bullshit - be it a book or a person.
Isnt that why we love the ones who wear their heart on their sleeves? coz they are honest?

Appearances do matter, and most often much more than the character of the person… but only in a short time frame. The longer you know or be with a person, the greater possibility for the masks to come off.
But I really dont know if we can do anything about it. because generally the things that look good seem attractive to us. A book with attractive cover gets more pickers from book shop and hence more buyers. Am not saying that exterior is the only thing, but yups sometimes, as you said, it makes a lot of difference.
