Dandiya:)

Yesterday night, there was puja, and other programs held as a part of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.There was also dandiya/garbha.We missed the puja coz we got late.So there we were all decked up in traditional attire(Ghagra Choli and sarees),only to find that we were the only few to do so!!!!The rest of the girls were just attired in Salwar Kameez…We were just wondering as to how we could escape without being noticed,when finally we decided “What the heck…Lets just have fun” and we did:D
After the puja and a few cultural programs,we had dinner and then started the Dandiya.All of us joined in a bit hesitatingly(Coz none of us knew the proper Dandiya steps).But then as the hrs passed,ppl got more comfortable and forgot about any misgivings that they might have had and danced like there was no tomorrow!In the last hr,we just threw away the dance sticks and danced what i call the free style dancing(Especially when “Rang Barse was being played,the josh was 200%%%););)…What was more fun was the part where two ppl hold hands and go round and round..umm dont know what its called….but its super fun,coz if one of them suddenly unclasps his/her hand,their partner is sure to fall:D
Finally after that,a small group of us decided to walk to Lake Raleigh at 12 in the night! on the way back home.It was super fun and a memorable night.I was reminded abt the Dandiya night that i had been to with my friends a year back,almost at the same time.I missed all of u so much yesterday and was telling all my friends here abt how much fun that night was…
In the end,these are what we shall all remember…These moments of fun and masti:)
Can’t help it!!!!!:D

Dance is an art…
Dance is a way of expressing urself…
Dance is fun…
I am not a dancer in the true sense.But i love dancing,with or without music.You have various types of dances,indian and western.There is kuchipudi,bharatanatyam and then u have the western dances like salsa,waltz….and then of course u have free style dancing(which is how ppl like me who dont know to dance, dance
)
An excerpt from Wikipedia:
Salsa:”Salsa is a partner dance form that corresponds to salsa music, however it is sometimes done solo too. The word is the same as the Spanish word salsa meaning sauce, or in this case flavour or style.Salsa is danced on music with a recurring eight-beat pattern, i.e. two bars of four beats. Salsa patterns typically use three steps during each four beats, one beat being skipped. However, this skipped beat is often marked by a tap, a kick, a flick, etc. Typically the music involves complicated percussion rhythms and is fast with around 180 beats per minute.”
Coming to the reason why i got really interested in salsa was the trip to kushalnagar.We were all resting in the cottage and like all brilliant ideas,which flash when u least expect,this idea flashed.Ramya who is a very good dancer knew a few basic steps of salsa and so she offered to teach us.So all of us with great enthu started off….it was great fun…[Although all of us were doing it like we were doing some drill!!!!Ramya was the only one there who was doing it gracefully
]
There were these two friends of mine who were playing snooker and so we thought how could we leave them out of this and proceeded to teach them salsa right there in the snooker room!!!Ha HA HA…..
But thanks to that trip,we all got hooked onto salsa.Then,there was this free salsa class in Casa del Sol which we all attended to be taught by professionals.It was one of my most memorable evenings.
There’s something really wonderful about dance,isn’t it?
So shall we dance?
