Perfect? No thanks

by Rashmi on Sep.18, 2009, under Uncategorized

In “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”,Rani leaves her perfect made to order husband and falls in love with a cranky egotistical married guy.In “Chasing Harry Winston”,Leigh breaks up with her perfect boyfriend and hooks up with someone not so perfect. In both cases, the problem was not that the guys werent good husband/boyfriend material but they just didnt love them.Does it strike you guys as absurd?

Well I for one, think that it takes a lot of courage to break away from something which everyone else thinks is absolutely wonderful.Because at the end of the day, what really counts is,what matters to you.

This funda applies to all aspects of our life.Everyone around us has an opinion about what is the best career for us,whats the best goal in life, whats the best decision, whats the best time to get married, whos the right person and so on…….But how is it the best thing for us if we are not happy. That is the best indicator, isnt it.

Are we happy about that choice/decision?Does it feel right? If the answer is yes, then stick with it and screw the opinions of rest of the world!:)

The turbulent mid 20’s

by Rashmi on Jul.19, 2009, under Uncategorized

Your job’s a joke,you are broke,your love life’s DOA

That sums up most of our lives as of today. Some are stuck in a career which they dont like, some are not happy with the pay, others are struggling to get a job! Some are struggling with finances, some have huge loans to pay off,for some its not enough for the page 3 kinda luxurious life.Moving on to personal life, some of us have had our hearts broken, some of us have had failed relationships, some of us still struggling with old hurts, still some tying the knot just coz its expected of them and they have given up hope of finding that elusive soulmate or hoping that the ones they are marrying will eventually turn out to be those!

Career-Not going anywhere

Love life-Not going anywhere

Individual-Confused and depressed

Seeking comfort over coffee with friends or chatting or long calls. Some seeking to escape with trips,gadgets,parties,books,music,movies-all in a desperate effort to find some relief and sanity.Thats mid twenties for you. This does not ofcourse apply to everyone out there. But definitely does for a quite a few of us.Keeping my fingers crossed that we will survive this turbulent phase and move onto more calmer, stabilized lives.

P.S: Considering how google reader doesnt show up any of the new blog entries,I doubt as to how many ppl will ever read this, but I am making this entry more for myself,so that I can look back someday and think,”We made it,through all that shit and survived,no actually not just survived, but came out of this as successes, both in our personal and professional lives” :D

Appearances are all that matters

by Rashmi on Nov.22, 2008, under Uncategorized

People very rarely see beyond the surface. The winners seem to be the one who can dish out that perfect exterior.Sweet, charming, polite, ones with that saccharine tongue. This is no place for fools who wear their hearts on their sleeves. No place for people whose inner selves are hidden by that exterior that they choose as a shield. Its all about how the cover of the book is than what lies within.

Questionning those beliefs

by Rashmi on Oct.22, 2008, under Uncategorized

To have believed in something all your life and then to come to a point where you are forced to question it all.Regrets of lost opportunities and missing out on so many things. And now with a race against time,to want it all,and more with least regard to rules and consequences and beliefs………

Seasons change….

by Rashmi on Sep.18, 2008, under Uncategorized

Once upon a time,a particular song was special to me.It held a sweet significance for me.Then there was this period when i stopped listening to it as it brought forth memories that i was trying my best to forget. Now i have reached that stage where that song no longer means anything. Its just another song,i listen to it occasionally, appreciate that its a nice song and thats it.It does not evoke any emotion, neither positive nor negative.Never before gave thought to the fact that music forms such an integral part of our lives. One song, one line, one tone, one chord can mean a million things to a million people :)
